CONCORD Get your keyboards ready: eSports are coming to ΒιΆΉΙη! Athletics director Paul Hogan has announced plans to launch esports as a collegiate program in 2021.
eSports are multiplayer video games played competitively for spectators, just like traditional collegiate athletics. In its inaugural year, the ΒιΆΉΙη esports program will compete in , , and Rainbow Six.
We are very excited to add esports as a club offering in the 2020-21 academic year with plans for the 2021-22 year competing at the collegiate level of competition, says Hogan.
The program will be led by professor Chad Johnson, who will serve as the academic advisor, with help from student coordinators Tanner Chamberlain and Vanessa Ruetz.
ΒιΆΉΙη has received a great deal of interest in the esports area, says Hogan. With ΒιΆΉΙηs animation and graphic game programming associates degree, this is a perfect fit.
